Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” is the best-selling single of 2012

Adding yet another accolade to her collection, Grammy Award-nominated Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” is now officially the best-selling single of 2012.

According to Billboard, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) reports that 27-year-old singer’s viral track sold over 12.5 million copies worldwide last year, putting it ahead of the rest.

The success of the song, written by Jepsen, Marianas Trench frontman Josh Ramsay and guitarist Tavish Crowe, pushed Gotye's tune "Somebody That I Used to Know" to second place at 11.8 million units sold. PSY's "Gangnam Style" placed third, moving 9.7 million copies.

Top-selling albums of 2012 include Adele’s “21” in first place for the second year in a row with 8.3 million units sold (it sold 18.1 million in 2011) and Taylor Swift's "Red" in second place, which sold 5.2 million copies worldwide.

Third and fourth place belong to One Direction’s albums "Up All Night" and "Take Me Home," which sold 4.5 million and 4.4 million units, respectively.

This news comes at a great time for Jepsen as last week it was announced that she leads this year’s Juno Awards with five nominations in categories like the Juno Fan Choice Award, Single of the Year for “Call Me Maybe,” Pop Album of the Year and Album of the Year for “Kiss” and Artist of the Year.

Posted only four days ago, you can now see the B.C.-native’s latest music video for “Tonight I’m Getting Over You,” which has already earned an incredible 3.3 million views on YouTube.

Since she was also revealed as one of the of the Juno Awards’ show performers, could this be the track she sings or will she stick with the safe choice and rock out to “Call Me Maybe?”
