In celebration of "Call Me Maybe" hitmaker Carly Rae Jepsen's 27th birthday, take a look at 15 things you didn't know about Justin Bieber's star protégé.
1. She really is turning 27-years-old.
In articles around the web, Jepsen has been thought of as much younger than she actually is due to her "youthful wardrobe." However, she was in fact born on Nov. 21, 1985.
2. She came in third on "Canadian Idol".
3. She likes Bruce Springsteen and Van Halen.
4. She supports gay rights.
When asked by Time magazine if the ending of the music video for "Call Me Maybe" (in which Carly's crush gives his phone number to a guy) was her decision, she said, "I'd love to take credit, but it was totally my director's idea. We both knew we wanted the ending to be fun and unpredictable, and when I read that idea, I loved it. It just seemed so perfect."
Later adding, "You know, acceptance has never even been a question to me. I've grown up knowing it's just the way things should be. When we shot the 'Call Me Maybe' video, we weren't even thinking the ending was not normal. I have so many gay friends that I love. It's a regular thing. And if my video is encouraging that mind frame with other children and other people — well, it's about time, I guess!"

5. She wants to write with John Mayer.
Jepsen has expressed her love for Mayer, saying to Time magazine, "Oh my gosh, I would literally do anything I could to write with him. He's one of the greatest writers of our time, and he's got a way of putting words together that are really relatable. He's definitely really dreamy, as well."
6. She's collaborated with LMFAO's Redfoo and Marianas Trench's Josh Ramsay
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Redfoo produced Jepsen's latest single "This Kiss" while "Call Me Maybe" was penned by the Ramsay as well as Tavish Crowe and Jepsen herself.
7. She doesn't own a television, or she didn't until Ellen DeGeneres gave her one.

13. She's had some crazy fan experiences.
"One time I went back to my hometown, Mission, B.C., and the mayor of Mission asked me to help him judge a pumpkin carving contest," she said. "One of the local fans had actually carved a pumpkin of my face, and it looked like me, an orange me, but still me."
14. Her biggest influences are her parents and musician James Taylor.
In an interview with Scholastic's Ink Splot 26, the singer revealed that her parents are "really good people," saying, "I would say my parents are probably number one. I love the way that they are passionate about music just like I am… But I would say, if I were to pick a musician, I really grew up on a guy named James Taylor. He's one of my favourites."
15. Her favourite "Call Me Maybe" covers are Justin Bieber's and Cookie Monster's.
Jepsen revealed in an interview on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that she loves "Sesame Street's" version of her viral track. But really, who doesn't love Cookie Monster's "Share It Maybe?"
