Carly Rose Sonenclar sings “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” on “The X Factor”

On the Nov. 21 Thanksgiving-themed episode of "The X Factor," young songbird Carly Rose Sonenclar performed the 1939 tune "Somewhere Over The Rainbow," dedicating it to her older brother Russell Sonenclar.

"I want to thank my brother Russ for always being there for me and being so supportive of everything that I do," the 13-year-old competitor said in the clip before she took the stage.

She also said, "He just helps me through everything and is always willing to listen to me and to give me advice because he is five years older than me."

Since he's been away at college, Carly Rose hasn't been able to see Russell during what she calls this "big time" in her life, but that all changed when he showed up to see her perform this week.

Upon learning that she was dedicating her "Wizard of Oz" performance to him, Russell smiled and thanked his little sister.

Taking the stage, the little diva belted out the ballad with passionate elegance, reminding us of her first audition in Providence when she soulfully performed Nina Simone's "Feeling Good" and blew everyone away.

This time was no different as her rendition of "Rainbow" earned a standing ovation from all four judges and some interesting commentary.

"You are an absolute force of nature," judge L.A. Reid said. "I don't know where it comes from and when you least expect it, you did deeper and you pull out the big one. But that time, you pulled out [the] big two, you went to two big notes, you only needed one and you went to two. I don't know how you do it."

Judge Demi Lovato marvelled at the young singer, saying, "You're an alien or something, but it's okay because I love aliens."

Echoing Lovato's extra-terrestrial remarks, judge Simon Cowell said, "You are the best alien I've ever heard sing in my life." Adding, "I've got to tell you, I've heard that song a lot of times [and] that was one of the best versions of it I've ever heard. Seriously, amazing."

In addition to the judge's stellar reviews, Carly Rose also made a fan out of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star Kim Kardashian who was there with her boyfriend Kanye West supporting her "X Factor" co-host sister Khloe Kardashian Odom and tweeted after the show:

"Wow, all I have to say is...Carly Rose. She sang the best version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow!!!!"
