Fefe Dobson: What you should know about the Canadian singer on her birthday

Today is singer Fefe Dobson’s 28th birthday and to celebrate, here are some things you should know about this Canadian artist.

1. She was born in Scarborough, Ontario.

2. Her first single was 2003’s “Bye Bye Boyfriend.”

The track comes from her Juno Award-nominated self-titled debut album.

3. Her YouTube channel has almost 20 million views with her music video for “Stuttering” accounting for over 6.4 million of those views.

4. She thought she was the King of Pop.

In an interview with MTV, Dobson said, "Dude, I thought I was Michael Jackson, OK?"

She also said, “I was wearing that white wife-beater and the glove. I swore I was Michael Jackson. Then I found out I wasn't Michael Jackson and it broke my heart. ... And Ariel from 'The Little Mermaid.' I thought I was her too."

5. She penned Miley Cyrus’ tune "Start all Over" for “Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus.”

"I wrote a song, she dug it, and she sang it," she said. "But I didn't want it for my record. It just wasn't right for me, and I just felt like it was better for someone else, and she does a great job on it. I was really impressed. She sounded great. I'm actually happier she did it than I did it."

6. “American Idol” alum Jordin Sparks covered Dobson’s “Don't Let It Go to Your Head” and she is actually a fan of the singer.

“It was so cool because she looked like me,” Sparks said. “And I was like, 'Whoa! That's so awesome!'"

After hearing Sparks’ interpretation, Dobson told MTV, “She did kind of, like, a more R&B version of it, which I think is really nice, actually. It was really cool that she didn't try and do a rock version of it, and she did what she's more comfortable with, which I thought was awesome."

7. She portrayed Tina Turner on the NBC series “American Dreams.”

8. She opened for Justin Timberlake during his U.K. tour in 2004.

"I'm not going to lie, [it is] one of those dreams come true for a girl," she told MTV. "I went to every 'N Sync concert in Toronto with my sister. It was like our whole groupie thing to do and we went to every show. She loved JC and I was like, 'Yeah, Justin!' "

9. Female guitarist Orianthi, known for her time playing with Michael Jackson, has an awesome guitar solo on Dobson’s track “Can’t Breathe.”
