Johnny Depp and Marilyn Manson to cover Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain”

King of the dark and twisted renditions of classic hits like the Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" and Gloria Jones' "Tainted Love," Marilyn Manson has decided to invoke the help of his celebrity pal, Johnny Depp, for his next epic cover track.

The long-time friends are coming together for a rendition of Carly Simon's 1972 hit song, "You're So Vain." According to HuffPost Entertainment, the cover will appear on Manson's eighth studio album, "Born Villain," which is due out May 1.

This isn't the first time we've seen Johnny Depp star in a tuneful capacity. Aside from his singing role the film "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," Depp's musical connection runs deeper and has been present since an early age. He has even gone as far as admitting that, "Music will always be [his] first love."

"[At the age of] 12, 13, 14-years-old, things were going haywire inside. So, the guitar sort of saved me," Depp said during an interview with "Inside The Actor's Studio." The Academy Award nominated actor also added, "I was so into my guitar and into playing that I didn't notice puberty."

In the interview, the "Dark Shadows" star revealed that he wanted to be a musician and dropped out of high school to join a Florida rock band, the Kids, in the 1980s. However, on the advice of pal and fellow actor, Nicolas Cage, he decided to pursue acting instead.

Since then, Depp has been seen jamming on stage with veteran rockers like Eddie Vedder, ZZ Top and his co-star in two films from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, Keith Richards. He can also be heard playing lead slide guitar on Oasis' track "Fade In-Out" from the album "Be Here Now."

Manson and Depp have shared a mutual admiration for each other over the years and as reported by Rolling Stone, the musician even joined the actor as his "date" for the premiere of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" in 2006.

Given that Depp is a gifted guitar player, it's possible that his appearance on "You're So Vain" could be purely be as a featured guitarist instead of as an accompanying vocalist.
