Juno Awards’ show secrets revealed!

Every year, the Juno Awards seem to get bigger and better.

The awards show has been around since the '70s and each year manages to top itself by creating a spectacle filled with surprises. This year, the Juno stage is at the centre of all the excitement because of its versatility and sheer technological advancement, as well as performance mash-ups that will knock your socks off!

"We never had such an electric stage or a stage that really marries video and lighting in a way that we have this year," executive producer, John Brunton, said in an interview yesterday. "We've taken it to new heights in terms of technology."

According to the Ottawa Citizen, the 2012 Juno stage is surrounded by huge television screens, two IMAX screens and is operated by a production crew of 150 technicians, designers and construction workers. 400 miles of lighting, audio and video cabling, two million watts of electricity and 300,000 watts of audio power will support the show.

Juno Awards: The leading men and women

The awards will feature performances by well-known Canadian acts like Sarah McLachlan, Blue Rodeo, Simple Plan, Nickelback, Hedley, Feist, deadmau5 and City and Colour. In addition, it will also feature some of the best Canadian dance artists during a 'mixed tape' routine that Brunton thinks will be a great experience.

"I think we're going to blow people away and we have some cool combinations," Brunton said. "Simple Plan with K'Naan, nobody has ever seen that before. What deadmau5 is doing with Lights and MC Flipside, nobody will have ever seen that before. And Sarah McLachlan is involved with Blue Rodeo's presentation in the Hall of Fame."

The combination of stage theatrics and stellar performances sounds like it could potentially blow the roof off Scotiabank Place on Sunday!

"It's the most complicated set we've ever built, the biggest set we've ever built, the biggest marriage between lighting and video," Brunton said. "The audience is going to see an enormous spectacle."
