Justin Bieber in the running for “Worst Album of the Year”

Beliebers, you might want to take a breath before reading this.

The pop star has been nominated for "Worst Album of the Year" by the NME Awards, a U.K. awards show founded by New Musical Express magazine that has been around since the '50s.

Their 2012 nominee list reveals some surprising choices.

In the category of "Worst Album of the Year," albums like Justin Bieber's "Under The Mistletoe," One Direction's "Up All Night," Coldplay's "Mylo Xyloto" and Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" have all been nominated and are creating quite a stir in the Twitterverse.

Check out some of the comments:

- Tweet: "1D, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber were nominated for the worstalbum [sic] awards. Fangirls [sic], let's unite and start World War lll together."

- Tweet: "For Beliebers, directioners didn't voted [sic] for Justin in the worst album. We respect beliebers n Bieber. Sincerely, directioners.

- Tweet: "Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga are nominated for Worst Album at some dumba** music awards in the UK. Some people need new ears I presume..."

However, it's hard to take the awards seriously when other nominations make no sense at all. For example, English rock band Muse is nominated in the "Best Live Band," "Best British Band" and "Worst Band" categories. So, according to the NME's, their music stinks but they play it live really well.

Bieber also made the "Villain of the Year" category along with Lady Gaga. It's nice to see the extensive charity efforts of each artist are being noticed across the pond. Not.
