Daylight For Deadeyes creates new rock version of “O Canada”

Rocking out on a drum kit that once belonged to veteran Canadian rock band, The Tragically Hip, Mississauga. Ont., band Daylight For Deadeyes (DFD) puts a new spin on our national anthem.

"If you're going to do a song of where you're from, you go for the jugular, the anthem," Chris Gormley, the band's lead vocalist and drummer, said in an interview. "Who's not going to like their national anthem? We did it in a respectful way and we tried to approach it in the best way that we could."

DFD, which also features Chris' brother Matt Gormley on lead guitar and bassist Andrew Neill, formed in 2003 and say that their new anthem version, "embodies the band's rock feel, but still stays true to the original."

They list bands such as The Beatles, The White Stripes, Led Zeppelin and AC/DC as their influences.
