Dogs play piano with owner

A video of two dogs playing the piano has gone viral since its posting yesterday on YouTube. Yes, you read that statement correctly. What you are about to see is two cuddly golden retrievers bang out a piece of music on an oversized keyboard while their owner plays a flute-like instrument called an ocarina.

Whether it's rescuing fellow canines, saying, "I love you" to their owners or showing a shark who's boss, dogs continue to amaze us and this time is no different.

According to Life's Little Mysteries, a psychologist and zoologist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Charles Snowdon, was able to shed some light on this incredible video and how the owner was able to complete such a feat.

"The dogs are being cued by their owner, which is different than memorization," Snowdon said. "She's playing notes and my guess is what they've done is learn the relationship between the notes she's playing and where they are supposed to put their paws."

According to Snowdon, since large dogs, like these golden retrievers seen in the video, possess vocal ranges similar to that of your average adult male human, "it is possible that they might be responsive to music in our frequency range." He also predicts that "a big dog might be more responsive to human music than a smaller dog such as a Chihuahua."

Even though these cool pooches might not understand that what they are playing is actually music, it is still amazing to see them respond to their owner's cues and make us smile in the process.
