Earlier this month, the Richmond, Virginia-based teen got the chance of a lifetime when he was asked to open for the "Slide" hitmakers at Musikfest in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and subsequently joined them on stage for their performance of the 1998 tune.

"We sound checked with him to make sure he knows how to play the song," said the Dolls' drummer Mike Malinin, who saw Dennehy's cover of "Iris" on YouTube and forwarded it to his band mates. "I think he knows it better than we do."

When asked if Dennehy was nervous to meet the band, lead singer Johnny Rzeznik said, "I think he just wanted to play."

According to a press release, Dennehy, who was adopted at the age of 1 and began playing the cello at eight years old, "is the only known person in the world who can play classical string music with his feet, and he also plays electric bass and piano."

Since his viral success, Dennehy has had a whirlwind experience receiving coverage from around the world, beginning the recording process for an upcoming album and being invited to appear on a Romanian television show.

His trip to Romania will be especially important for the adopted teenager as he will also get the chance to meet his biological family while he is there.

"A TV show crew from Romania is coming here in a few weeks to film me for their show, then I will be going to Romania to finish the show over there and perform," Dennehy wrote on his Facebook page on August 1st. "The best part is, I get to see my family after 17 years of being away :)."
