Jessie J sings six-year-old Tyla Atkin out of a coma

After being put into a medically induced coma, six-year-old Tyla Atkin's mother, Michelle Hart, was afraid that her daughter might never wake up and be the same again. That is, until she began to show improvement after being serenaded by her favourite English pop singer, Jessie J.

According to the Daily Mail, after being involved in a horrific car accident in April, the youngster was put into a coma to lower brain activity and give her a fighting chance at recovery.

"You don't just wake up from a coma, it takes time, and you have to wait to see what the damage is," Hart said. "The doctors say you have keep talking to people in comas to keep them connected and focused."

When Hart heard that Jessie J was in the same hospital, she quickly tried to get in touch with her to see if she would help.

"The last thing Tyla was thinking and talking about before the car accident was Jessie J, so I thought if she heard a Jessie J song it would make her come round," the 27-year-old mother said. "I ran round the whole hospital asking people to help me find Jessie or get a message to her. I was desperate to find her."

Hart's attempt to contact Jessie J was successful and soon after she heard Atkin's story, the singer was by the little girl's side and proceeded to sing to her for 30 minutes, including a gentle rendition of Atkin's favourite song by the 24-year-old artist, "Rainbow."

"After Jessie came in Tyla kept going from strength to strength," Hart said. "It was amazing. I believe Jessie J saved Tyla. She gave my daughter back to me and I'm so grateful."

Today, Atkin is still recovering but is now able to walk and talk. She does, however, still suffer from some "emotional problems," which doctors say is normal given the extent of her brain injuries.

"I love Jessie J with all of my heart because she woke me up," Atkin said. "It was really nice for her to do that for me. I've got a picture of her on my wall. I always put my hand on it and pray."
