Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen, Nelly Furtado and Marianas Trench added as 2012 MMVA performers

In a press release issued last night, the 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards announced that performers Justin Bieber, Nelly Furtado, Carly Rae Jepsen and Marianas Trench will be joining this year's block party.

"I'm so excited to be coming back home for this year's MMVAs," Bieber said in a statement. "It's an honour to be nominated and performing. I can't wait!"

Last year, the Biebs took home a pair of MMVAs in the categories of UR Fave Artist and International Video of the Year by a Canadian and is nominated in the same two categories this year.

Joining the teen heartthrob as an MMVA performer is Bieber's newest protégé, Carly Rae Jepsen, who reflected on her new found stardom, saying, "The last couple months have been madness." Adding, "I can't wait to come home and play a show where this all began at this year's MMVAs. Can't wait to see everybody!"

Jepsen has been nominated for twice as many MMVAs as Bieber and stands a chance at taking home the prize in the categories of Video of the Year, UR Fave Artist or Group, UR Fave Video of the Year and Pop Video of the Year for her track, "Call Me Maybe."

Juno and Grammy Award winner Nelly Furtado has also been tapped for this year's festivities and proved that she's still got it with a high-energy performance of her latest track "Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)" at last weekend's Billboard Music Awards.

The British Columbian beauty has a total of five previous wins at the MMVAs and her video for "Big Hoops" has picked up a nomination this year in the Director of the Year category.

Finally, the always-exciting pop/rock band Marianas Trench has also been added to this year's line up. They expressed their excitement about returning to the show saying, "Wow, we are extremely stoked to be rocking the MMVAs this year." Adding, "Flaming bras are out of style this season but you can bet we'll have a few tricks up our sleeves. Brace yourself, Canada!"

The Vancouver band leads the pack this year with a total of seven MMVA nominations and has a history of shocking the audience on the red carpet by arriving in everything from a hot tub to what looked like giant hamster balls.

This batch of performers join previously announced artists like Katy Perry and co-host/performers LMFAO and are set to rock Toronto live on June 17.
