Kathleen Reiter wins Israel’s version of “The Voice”

Kathleen Reiter is a gifted singer who was born and raised in Montreal, Que. This past summer, the 23-year-old decided to immigrate to Tel Aviv, Israel, and ended up as the winner of the inaugural season of the Israeli edition of "The Voice."

After a friend of her father's suggested she try out, Reiter decided to perform Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" for her blind audition and was so good that all four judges hit their "I Want You" buttons and turned around to see the woman with the amazing voice.

Her performance sounds like a mix of Adele and singer/songwriter Joss Stone, bringing together power and emotion with blues and soul.

"It's the soul music, I like to sing like that," Reiter told the National Post. Adding that Adele inspires her. "It's a big part of how I want to portray myself as a performer. I'm not that outgoing of a person regularly, but onstage, I can sing bigger."

According to the article, Reiter speaks English, French and Hebrew and performed in all three languages on "The Voice" to demonstrate her versatility. Her first single, a summertime dance track, has already been released in Hebrew and has begun to receive airplay in Israel.

She tells the National Post that she is eager to begin her journey, saying, "The goal is to get to a place where I can release an album and play shows and all of that stuff. I'm definitely in the direction I want to go to."

As part of her prize, she received an international recording contract with an Israeli record label, Universal Helicon and says that she chose Adele for her opening audition because, "The song has so much soul and it does something to people, it moves them, and for me, this is what I look for when I'm performing onstage."
