Katy Perry covers Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe”

Katy Perry wants you to call her, maybe.

Taking a break from her weekend of partying during the 2012 Coachella music festival, the "Teenage Dream" chanteuse took the time to sing along to the popular Carly Rae Jepsen track, "Call Me Maybe," and filmed her and her friends dancing poolside.

Jepsen, 26, is a Canadian singer who placed third in the fifth season of 'Canadian Idol' and has become an up-and-coming hot property with "Call me Maybe's" success and a little help from Justin Bieber. The song has reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the number one spot on the Canadian Hot 100.

While sporting a new purple hairdo and wearing a revealing frock, Perry danced with everyone, including someone that sounds like she refers to as her "house painter," with flowers in her hair and an inflatable monkey by her side.

The "California Gurls" singer seems like the video's instigator as she directs the group telling them to act out parts in slow motion and, as she says in the clip, "go across the screen like you are going in a tunnel."

Near the end of the video, the Grammy-nominated artist even pops out in front of the camera and affectionately says, "We love you, Justin Bieber."

Back in February, Bieber, along with famous friends like Ashley Tisdale, members of Big Time Rush and his current girlfriend, Selena Gomez, posted their own cover video in tribute to the infectious pop track that today has reached over 33.4 million views.

After showing his love for Jepsen and her bubbly music, Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, took his advice and signed the Canadian singer to his label, Schoolboy Records.

Earlier this month, Jepsen told MTV News that she and the Biebs were working on a new song together and classified the track as, "Pretty stripped-down," and, "Pretty casual." Adding, "It's not too dance-y; it's more intimate. It's a duet."
