MuchMusic Video Awards 2012: Best and Worst Moments

And that's a wrap! The 2012 edition of the MuchMusic Video Awards are in the can -- and not a single music video was played during the entire affair! The annual celebrity-filled bash always features plenty of memorable moments - from surprise cameos and thrilling live performances, to unplanned snafus, unfortunate mistakes, and more. This year's show featured all that and more.

Here are some of the best and worst moments from the 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards.

Worst: Tie - Kreesha Turner's red carpet S&M dancers and LMFAO's "Champagne Showers"

Although there weren't any whips or chains in sight, you've got to wonder what the assembled tween masses made of Kreesha Turner's S&M-themed back up dancers. Here's hoping the leather kilts and gimp masks don't catch on. Turner's age inappropriate performance was quickly followed by LMFAO's show opener, which kept that theme going. During a rendition of the duo's hit "Champagne Showers," Redfoo and SkyBlu doused a mostly underage crowd with what appeared to be real champagne - though it was likely only sparkling wine if you want to get technical. Let's see the kids explain that one to their parents.

Best: Justin Bieber walks the red carpet with his baby brother

As if true Beliebers needed more reason to swoon over Canada's prince of pop, the singer arrived at this year's MMVAs with his adorable "Baby" brother Jaxon in tow -- and "Girlfriend" Selena Gomez nowhere in sight. See what we did there?

Best: Carly Rae Jepsen and Flo Rida duet

It's a shame that there wasn't an award for most unlikely duet, because this one would have taken the cake. Rhyme master Flo Rida performed the title track off his new album, "Wild Ones," at the MMVAs, but Australian singer/songwriter Sia - who features on the track - sadly wasn't in attendance. Not an issue! Canuck pop sensation Carly Rae Jepsen gladly stepped in to back up Flo and the resulting duet was pretty solid. We see hip-hop collabs in Jepsen's future.

Worst: Perez Hilton revealing that Jack Osbourne has MS

Nothing says red carpet fun quite like revealing that someone has a potentially terminal illness! While wearing an enormous fake afro, celebrity gossip maven Perez Hilton revealed that reality star Jack Osbourne (son of Ozzy and Sharon) had recently been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a debilitating disease with no known cure. There is a time and a place for that sort of thing, sir, and the MMVA red carpet is not it.

Best: Kelly Clarkson wows the crowd

Since winning "American Idol" so many years ago, pop singer Kelly Clarkson has had her ups and downs ("From Justin to Kelly," anyone? *shudder*). Tonight's MMVA performance was definitely an up moment for Clarkson, who looked amazing and floored the crowd with a live performance of her hits "Stronger" and "Dark Side."

Worst: Bieber's bad lip-syncing

Canadian national treasure Justin Bieber closed out the MMVAs with a fairly boring and poorly lip-synced performance. Maybe he couldn't hear himself over the screaming girls, but the medley of Bieb hits lacked the usual flash that the 18-year-old crooner puts into his songs. Bieber wins points for his Michael Jackson inspired "Thriller" outfit though.

Best/Worst: Inexplicable Rob Ford cameo

Blink and you might have missed it, but during the show's intro sequence, controversial Toronto mayor Rob Ford made an unexpected appearance. In a somewhat fitting cameo, Mayor Ford can be seen reeling from an explosion of smoke after opening a barbeque. Depending on how you feel about the extremely divisive politician this was either an awesome or offputting way to start the show.
