The Sheepdogs: Who are they?

Less than a year ago, the Sheepdogs were just a great band from Saskatoon that competed for a chance to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone. Today, they are multi-Juno Award winners and are currently on tour with John Fogerty in Australia.

Picking up the awards for Best New Group and Rock Album of the Year for their disc, "Learn & Burn" and Single of the Year for their track, "I Don't Know," the band sent a video message of gratitude to the awards and wrote on their website, "We can't believe it but we are so thankful for our three Juno wins this weekend."

An important stepping-stone to reaching this milestone in the band's career came when they competed in Rolling Stone's "Choose the Cover" contest and beat out 15 other finalists to become the first unsigned band to ever appear on the front of the magazine.

While in the process of fighting for the majority of more than 1.5 million total votes, the rock revival group was mentored by fellow musician, Kid Rock, who offered the band these words of encouragement, saying, "The advice I'd give to you guys is, do exactly what you're doing and tell everybody to f**k off," he said. "Don't let 'em try to change ya, and just be yourselves."

The band seems to have taken Rock's advice to heart because since then, their vintage sound has remained constant and only pushed them higher in the world of music.

In early January, the foursome announced that Black Keys drummer, Patrick Carney, would produce their next album due out in late spring. "We're recording live in the same room with no headphones," frontman Ewan Currie said. "Pat's got great ideas and we all seem to be on the same level."
