Spice Girls to auction iconic costumes for children’s charity

Fresh off their musical theatre production announcement, the Spice Girls have now added auctioning off some of their most iconic wardrobe pieces to this December's opening benefit gala for "Viva Forever!"

According to The Hollywood Reporter, proceeds from the sale of items like Victoria Beckham's black leather dress that she wore as "Posh Spice" and Melanie Brown's "Scary Spice" leopard-print bodysuit will go to benefit Save the Children and Children in Need.

"I've got all my costumes still. I can't wait for Harper to grow a little so she can have some," Beckham said of her daughter who turns one year old next week and is in for quite the first birthday party complete with a star-studded guest list and special dyed-pink rabbits. "But the rest I'd like to put for charity, I think it would be a fantastic thing to do."

The Girls, also known as Emma "Baby Spice" Bunton, Melanie "Sporty Spice" Chisholm, Geri "Ginger Spice" Halliwell, Brown and Beckham were known during their prime for their fashion almost as much as their music.

After all, how many of us today can sing an entire Spice Girls song in comparison to the number of people that remember that their alter ego costumes featured highlights like platform shoes, short skirts and Adidas sportswear?

So, if you've ever wanted to own one of Sporty's track suits, one of Ginger's mini dresses or Baby's baby-doll top, which are all set to be added to the auction block as well, your chance will come on December 11 when "Viva Forever!" hits London's West End.
