Shaggy Says He Got Tired Of Wearing Braids

(11/3/02, 7 a.m. ET) -- Shaggy's wild, seemingly unkempt hairstyle has nothing to do with keeping up with the latest fashion trend, according to the reggae artist who released his new album, Lucky Day, on October 29.
The artist told LAUNCH that he is a fan of low-maintenance hair styles. "I had cornrows in for a while, and I just got bored. Not of the cornrows, just the fact that I had to do the sh-t every couple days. 'Cause they want you to wear that stocking cap sh-t, and it's a pain in the ass. I just decided that I'm not going to wear the damn thing, you know what I mean, and if I don't wear it, like every two days, you have to sit there for two hours and have them cornrow the sh-t. So it was like a pain in the ass after a while. So once I let it out, it was just too damn big. So, I just cut it off, and it's easier now, you know what I mean. I just get up and go."
"Hey Sexy Lady," the first single from Lucky Day, entered Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Single Sales chart at Number 59 last week.
