Lit Buckles Down For Television 'V.I.P.' Role

(12/22/99, 5 p.m. ET) - This week, Lit is on the set of Pamela Anderson's hit TV show V.I.P., filming an episode that will air in February. Lit singer A.J. Popoff told LAUNCH that the show's writers actually designed the episode around the band. "We're playing ourselves," he said. "We use our real names, and we're Lit. They're using our music throughout the show, and it's cool." Popoff, speaking from the set, shared how Lit is crucial to the plot. "At one point we have this big gig that we're playing, and it's like our hometown show," he explained. "And it's sort of like a big deal. And I have this belt buckle. It was an Elvis -- I don't have it yet -- but it was a belt buckle that Elvis used as a luck charm, and I get it. And then we're chased by bad guys who want the belt buckle. So we have to dodge bullets and all that good stuff, and eventually we get to the venue, which is the Bren Center in Irvine, and we have our big gig." He added, "It's a complicated story, but, basically, that's the gist of the whole thing." So, how does Pamela Lee fit into the equation? "We hire her to protect us, and to get us there safely," Popoff explained. When asked if Lee's husband, Tommy Lee, showed up on the set during filming, Popoff noted that the former Motley Crue drummer was rumored to show up later in the day, and may even get his own role in the episode. "He may be this homeless guy, and see, at one point I get kidnapped by the bad guys, and I think they may be looking for someone to sort of fill in while I'm gone. And if we write that in, and that ends up happening, then Tommy will be like the homeless guy. And Pam asks him, 'Hey, do you want to be a rock star?' And he's like, 'Not really.' And she's like, 'I'll give you twenty bucks.' And he's like, 'All right.' So it'll be something really quick, but it'll be really cool to have him incorporated there." -- Darren Davis Got news tips, comments, or questions? Send them to newstips@launch.com.
