(5/26/99, 4 p.m. PDT) - Alanis Morissette and Blur have been added to the Amsterdam bill of this year's Tibetan Freedom Concerts, which will take place on four different continents on June 13 (LAUNCH, 4/16).

The organizers of the event are optimistic that staging the event in Amsterdam, Chicago, Sydney, and Tokyo will show unified support for Tibet. "The four concerts will demonstrate the size of the international Tibet movement to the Chinese government," Erin Potts, director of the Milarepa Fund, which stages the concert, said in a statement. "We've never seen global action for Tibet on this scale. The outpouring of support this year is a clear indication that this cause is one that people around the world truly care about. It is a sign that this issue cannot be ignored and that world governments must take action for Tibet."

Concert organizers have also established the website, www.tibet99.com, which will feature footage from the four concerts on June 13. In addition, on June 20, a four-hour special will be webcast with highlights from the shows and exclusive interviews. As a means of additional fundraising, the site will feature an online auction of memorabilia, including Beastie Boy Adam Yauch's 1973 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham D'elegance.
