(5/25/99, 1 p.m. PDT) - Tom Cochrane, 46, crashed his Cessna light plane into a runway in Bellefeuille, Quebec Sunday (May 23) night, but he escaped uninjured, his manager Ron Stone has confirmed.

Two passengers, drummer Randy Stoll, 35, and Cochrane's friend Keir Brownstone, 43, suffered minor injuries in the crash. Cochrane told authorities the plane's engine failed shortly after takeoff from the small town north of Montreal, forcing the plane to land in the tree tops at the end of the runway. During the impact of the crash, a wing was ripped from the plane.

Cochrane and his passengers were en route to a concert at Cayuga Speedway in Cayuga, Ontario. Cochrane's next scheduled date is Thursday (May 27) at the World Perfect Theatre/ Coral Centre in Ottawa, Ontario and will go on as scheduled. "He's perfectly okay," Stone says. "He had a little mishap, but he's fine. It was like a fender-bender."

The singer is best known for the 1992 top 10 hit "Life Is A Highway." Cochrane continues to be a big star in Canada, where he recently scored a top 10 hit with the track "Willie Dixon Said" from his latest album Xray Sierra. Although the album was released by major EMI Music Canada in Cochrane's home country, in the U.S it was issued by independent label World Domination following the singer's split with Capitol Records.
