(4/19/02, 6 p.m. ET) -- Dave Grohl is putting a hold on the Foo Fighters' recording sessions, saying the band needs a rest from recording its new album. Instead, he will drum for his favorite band, Queens Of The Stone Age, on its summer tour. He's also going to focus on finishing an album with his heavy-metal side project, Probot.
"We've been out here in L.A. for the last few months; sometimes working, sometimes not," wrote Grohl in an online message to fans. "Everything that we recorded came out great, and we actually mixed a bunch of it, but after four months, three studios, and who knows how many foosball games, we decided to take a break from it."
Grohl added, "I promise it won't be too long and it'll be worth every suspenseful moment."
Fans may be album to hear a few songs from the forthcoming Foo Fighters album at the Coachella Festival in California on April 28. Grohl will be pulling double duty by playing drums for Queens Of The Stone Age the day before (April 27).
Meanwhile, Queens Of The Stone Age will embark on a full tour starting May 27 in Atlanta.
