Lit To 'Raise 'Em Up' With Tour Opener In Nebraska

(4/18/02, 1 p.m. ET) -- Lit kicks off its "Raise 'Em Up" tour Thursday (April 18) on the campus of the University Of Nebraska in Kearney. The 16-show tour is the first full-blown headlining tour by the Orange County punk-pop group in support of its latest album, Atomic, which arrived from last October from Dirty Martini/RCA Records.

The trek includes opening acts Pressure 4-5, and Dirty Martini labelmates Handsome Devil.

Lit bassist Kevin Baldes tells LAUNCH that the "Raise 'Em Up" theme captures the essence of the group. "We had a logo drawn up and it's just kind of everything we believe in," he says. "One hand has, like, the metal sign right in the middle, another hand is raising the American flag, and another hand is raising a bottle of your best alcohol. It kinda has a skull and crossbones on it. It's kind of like all that right there. That's what we do on the road."

Much of the show's visuals are taken from the band's video for the single "Lipstick And Bruises." "We wanted something that looked atomic, so we're going for a really chrome, silver, orange type of thing," Baldes tells LAUNCH. The group also recently obtained a seven-foot "Lit" sign that is illuminated by hundreds of lights.

More dates for May are expected to be announced in the coming days.
