Filter & Springsteen Tackle 9/11 On New Releases

(8/7/02, 6 p.m. ET) -- Filter's new album, The Amalgamut, makes its debut at Number 32 on the Billboard 200 album chart, while Bruce Springsteen's The Rising captured the Number One slot on the chart. Filter singer-songwriter Richard Patrick told LAUNCH that both albums have been influenced by the September 11 terrorist attacks on the U.S.

"I have to talk about this, and it's a very, very interesting coincidence. Bruce Springsteen released his record the same day that The Amalgamut came out. He has a song called '(You're) Missing' and I have a song called 'The Missing.' That's to me very interesting because we are both coming from two very different worlds of music. And this is--with Bruce Springsteen's--this is one of the first records to come out where you're going to see an artist dealing with 9/11 and I think it's important. I think it's a valid thing for us." he said.

Springsteen's The Rising sold more than 500,000 copies in its first week, while The Amalgamut sold approximately 32,000.
