(6/19/02, 1 p.m. ET) -- Our Lady Peace is climbing up the Billboard Modern Rock chart with the song "Somewhere Out There," off the band's recently released new album Gravity, produced by Bob Rock. Our Lady Peace singer-songwriter Raine Maida told LAUNCH the tune is actually a mix of two different songs.
"It was like a last minute song done really quickly. I demoed a bunch of songs over Christmas, when we had a break for 10 days. I wrote, like, seven songs and brought them back. Bob listened to all seven songs and then listened to song number three halfway through and song number six halfway through and said, 'OK,' told the engineer to stop the CD, and got us to go put the verse from song three and the chorus from song six together and was like, 'That's the song.'"
"Somewhere Out There" is currently at Number Eight on the Billboard Modern Rock chart. Our Lady Peace is in the middle of a promotional tour. On Wednesday (June 19) the band will be at Tower Records in Schaumberg, Illinois signing copies of Gravity. The band is at FYE in Mentor, Ohio on Thursday (June 20).
