Alanis Morissette, Sugar Ray, Chrissie Hynde To Share 'High Places'

(8/29/00, 12 p.m. ET) - Alanis Morissette, Sugar Ray, and the Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde are among the artists to be featured on Music In High Places, an upcoming television documentary series described by its creators as "National Geographic for the MTV and VH1 generation." Others include Shawn Colvin, Lyle Lovett, and Brian McKnight.

Morissette will appear in the debut episode of the travelogue, which will appear on DirecTV on October 6. The singer-songwriter appears before cameras giving an acoustic performance at the Navajo Nation's Canyon De Chelly National Monument in Arizona.

"This experience has allowed me to merge my love of communicating through music and immersing myself in a culture filled with wisdom, freedom, and beauty," says Morissette, in a statement. "It has confirmed my belief in our own interconnectedness on a spiritual level, regardless of our religious, racial, and cultural differences."
