Korn's Jonathan Davis Compares Ozzfest To Family Values

(6/30/03, 4 p.m. ET) -- OzzFest kicked off on Saturday (June 28), in Selma, Texas, right outside San Antonio, and Korn was the second-to-last act before headliner Ozzy Osbourne took the stage. Korn is a veteran of the festival circuit, having played Lollapalooza in 1997, Metallica's Summer Sanitarium in 2000, and its own big show/festival creation, Family Values, several times in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Korn vocalist Jonathan Davis said OzzFest is very different than his own Family Values Tour. "One of the things that is different is that this is outdoors and Family Values was in an arena--and it was all our friends," says Davis. "And it's basically a big family production. This, OzzFest, is on a lot grander scale. There's two stages, like I don't know how many bands, a lot more bands... it's a different thing. It's a totally different thing. This is more of a festival and ours was just a big show."

The cancelled August 8 show at Jones Beach, New York has been replaced by an August 12 date in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

In the meantime, Korn is wrapping up work on its next yet-untitled album--the follow-up to last year's critically acclaimed Untouchables. The band is producing the new effort, getting it to stores by the end of the year.

A new song on that album, "Did My Time," is available through the Sony Music download site for .99 cents. Fans can get it at downloads.sonymusic.com. "Did My Time" appears in the upcoming film, Laura Croft Tomb Raider: Cradle Of Life, although it won't be on the motion picture soundtrack album.
