(7/1/03, 7 a.m. ET) -- Police arrested Death Row Records founder Marion "Suge" Knight on Friday (June 27) in Los Angeles for violating his parole, according to the Los Angeles Times. The arrest stemmed from an incident on June 21 in which Knight allegedly punched a parking valet.
Knight, who was arrested earlier this year when found fraternizing with a gang member, was jailed without bail on Friday evening and is currently awaiting a pending court date.
The L.A. Times reports that Knight's lawyer, Robin Yanes, said he was not notified about the incident.
During the mid-1990s, Death Row Records was home to many major rap artists including Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
Knight was imprisoned in 1996 for violating probation in association with Shakur's death in Las Vegas.
After his release in 2001, Knight created Tha Row Records. Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes signed a contract with the label shortly before her fatal car accident.
