(2/10/03, 10 a.m. ET) -- Angie Stone is currently back in the studio working on a new album, Diary Of A Soul Sista. When LAUNCH spoke to her backstage last week at the Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Fest, the R&B singer said that she's also been very active in pursuing acting.
"I'm on the new album, which is tentatively titled Diary Of A Soul Sista," Stone said. "[I'm] also doing film and television, a lot of film and television, right now. Just did a movie with Rob Schneider and Adam Sandler that's out called The Hot Chick, also another movie coming called The Fighting Temptation with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Beyonce. In the process of writing a script with Jamie Foxx for me, and a couple of offers on the table for my own TV show."
Stone was recently nominated for her first Grammy Award in the best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocal for her collaboration with Joe, "More Than A Woman." Stone shared that she feels like she's already won. "Right now I'm preparing for the Grammys," Stone said. "I got my first Grammy nomination this year, so I'm excited, you know? It's been a long, long, long time, and if I don't win, I've won already, I think."
Stone released two critically acclaimed sets as the lead singer of Vertical Hold, including 1993's A Matter Of Time and 1995's Head First. The singer has released two gold sets as a solo artist, 1999's Black Diamond and 2001's Mahogany Soul.
