(5/13/03, 4 p.m. ET) -- A.F.I.'s hit song, "Girl's Not Grey," from the album Sing the Sorrow, is currently at Number nine on the Billboard Modern Rock chart. Guitarist Jade Puget and singer Davey Havoc explain they were inspired to write "Girl's Not Grey" during a trip to Toronto just before they were going into the studio to record the album.
"The music, I just went to Toronto by myself just to hang out there and write a little more for the album because we were getting ready to go into the studio," Puget said. "That was the only thing I wrote there. I guess Toronto made me (laughs) [want to write]." Havoc added, "Lyrically, I just flowed from the music. Actually, it was one of those songs where I just listened to the song, and it inspired me to write."
A.F.I. kicked off the second leg of its headlining tour in support of Sing The Sorrow in New York City's Roseland Ballroom on Thursday (May 8). The tour wraps up May 23 in Charlotte, North Carolina. A.F.I. will follow that with a few radio festivals and then head to Europe at the end of the month.
