Weiland Pleads Innocent To Drug Charges

(6/3/03, 7 a.m. ET) -- In Los Angeles on Monday (June 2), Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland pleaded innocent to charges of drug possession in connection with a May 17 incident. Weiland was arrested last month in Burbank, California when police stopped the car, driven by 29-year-old Jennifer Lynn Sires, for driving without the headlights turned on. During the routine stop, police spotted drug paraphernalia and arrested Weiland and Sires. Weiland was released after posting $10,000 dollars bail.

Court officials told Reuters that the 35-year-old Weiland will enter a rehabilitation program to try and curb his heroin and cocaine habits--something he did involuntarily in 1999 when he was sentenced to an in-prison rehab facility. The beleaguered singer is set to appear back in court on July 11 to set a preliminary hearing date.
