(1/29/03, 4 p.m. ET) -- Hip-hop's Fat Joe and reggae's Buju Banton have hooked up for Banton's new album, Friends For Life. The set is due out March 13, and Fat Joe as well as Grammy nominee Beres Hammond lend their talents to the track "Good Times," a tribute to romantic antics.
The album's title could be a fitting description for Banton and Fat Joe, whose longtime friendship dates back to when the late rapper Big Pun was still a part of Fat Joe's crew. Banton explained their friendship. "Fat Joe is a great guy, and I met Fat Joe about four years ago when Pun was alive," Banton said. "We were doing some work in Miami when I was introduced to him, and we just kicked it off real smooth, you know? I came to New York to check these guys out and they showed me crazy love. Pun--a terrific guy, may God bless his soul. And Joe is as real as it gets."
