(7/19/00, 7 a.m. ET) - An August 22 release date has been set for No Ordinary World, the new album by British song stylist Joe Cocker. The 14-track album features songs by a variety of big-name writers, including "She Believes In Me," which was co-written by Bryan Adams; "Where Would I Be Now" by former Doobie Brother Michael McDonald and Tony Joe White; "Soul Rising" by former 10cc member Graham Gouldman; and "Love Made A Promise," which was co-written by Paul Brady.

The album also features covers of Steve Winwood's "While You See A Chance" and Leonard Cohen's "First We Take Manhattan." The album was recorded earlier this year in London and Los Angeles, and will be released in the U.S. by Eagle Records. Cocker kicks off a North American tour on September 3 at the Jazz Aspen festival in Snowmass Village, Colo., after which he starts a stint opening for Tina Turner on September 20 in Boston.
