(7/28/99, 4 p.m. PDT) - James Brown wasn't the only artist to pay tribute to John F. Kennedy Jr. at Woodstock '99 (LAUNCH, 7/23). During Live's set on Saturday (July 24), the band took a moment to remember JFK Jr. as well. At the show, Live singer Ed Kowalczyk spoke about the man and his father, President John F. Kennedy, before launching into "Lightning Crashes."

Live's frontman told LAUNCH that he felt it was appropriate to remember Kennedy at Woodstock '99. "Dedicating a song to the memory of JFK Jr. and also the memory of his father...I feel is a poignant moment. People rallied around JFK in the '60s, and this is Woodstock. I think it's fine to memorialize both of them and have it be part of the show...I've been watching CNN for four days and I'm just completely moved by the swell of love and emotion that's going on."

John F. Kennedy Jr., his wife, and her sister were killed when their plane crashed off Martha's Vineyard the night of July 16.
