The Strokes Announce Weezer Dates
06/03/2002 4:00 PM, Yahoo! Music Jerry Armor
(6/3/02, 4 p.m. ET) -- The Strokes have announced the five dates that they will open for Weezer. The band will open for Rivers Cuomo and crew starting July 15 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Opening all of Weezer's dates are Dashboard Confessional and Sparta.
While already extremely popular in the U.K., the Strokes' success at home in the U.S. also continues to expand, if at a slower pace. Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture tells LAUNCH, "We're not looking to fit in and just the way things have been going now, it's just getting people excited and into what we're doing. That's basically how it's been from the beginning, you know, just people have been into it and it's just been catching on."
The Strokes' "Hard To Explain" is currently at Number 31 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart.
The Strokes' dates opening for Weezer (subject to change):
July 15 - Cuyahoga Falls, OH - Blossom Music Center
July 17 - Noblesville, IN - Verizon Wireless Music Center
July 18 - Columbus, OH - Polaris Amphitheater
July 29 - Atlanta, GA - HiFi Buys Amphitheater
July 30 - Antioch, TN - AmSouth Amphitheater
-- Darren Davis, New York and Neal Weiss, Los Angeles
