Creed Resumes Tour July 11

(6/1/02, 10 a.m. ET) -- Creed has scheduled a tour that will begin July 11 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The first leg wraps up September 1 in Toronto, and the second leg starts September 20 in San Antonio, Texas. These are the first Creed dates since the band canceled a tour in late April due to a back injury singer Scott Stapp suffered in a car accident.

Tickets from the previously canceled shows will not be honored. Tickets for this run go on sale June 8. 12 Stones will open all first-leg tour dates. Former Alice In Chains guitarist/songwriter Jerry Cantrell will open 11 shows, with more possibly scheduled. He's supporting his release Degradation Trip. Other openers are will be announced shortly.

Stapp suffered a torn disc in his lower back and a bulging disc in his neck in the car accident, but the Creed frontman was given the OK to resume touring after undergoing physical therapy and a strengthening program.
