(10/20/97) - Nova Scotian pop darlings Sloan--who released their third LP, One Chord To Another, on their own label Murderecords after being dumped by Geffen--have been regained ownership of the masters from their Geffen debut Smeared, and are currently negotiating with Geffen for the rights for their second album, Twice Removed (which was voted Top Canadian Album of All Time in 1996 Chart magazine readers' poll). The band has also recovered ownership of One Chord To Another from the American record label The Enclave (which released the album in the States), and are currently looking for a new U.S. record deal. For reasons undisclosed, Sloan chose not to be absorbed by Virgin Records, the label that took on several Enclave artists after The Enclave folded this past June.
