Queens Of The Stone Age Releases 'Songs For The Deaf'

(8/27/02, 1 p.m. ET) -- The Queens Of The Stone Age's album, Songs For The Deaf, hits stores Tuesday (August 27) from Interscope Records, with a limited-edition bonus DVD included in the first initial run of the new release.
The DVD features live clips of the band, interviews, and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the new album. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, who played live dates with the band earlier this year, played on the album's tracks and also appears in on the DVD. The album comes in "clean" and "explicit" editions.
Queens Of The Stone Age launches a tour in support of Songs For The Deaf in Washington D.C. on Friday (August 30) at the 9:30 Club. The band is touring with Interscope labelmates, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead as opening act.
Queens are playing several acoustic in-store performances for the week of the album release. The band appears at Amoeba Records in Hollywood Tuesday (August 27) at 6 p.m., Tower Records in San Diego on Wednesday (August 28) at 6 p.m., and at Newbury Comics in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on Sunday (September 1) at 1 p.m.
In other Queens Of The Stone Age news, bass player Nick Oliveri sings on the debut live album from Los Angeles-based Black Sabbath tribute band Hand Of Doom, out Oct. 22 on Idaho Music/Retrophonic. The outfit also features vocals by former Hole and Smashing Pumpkins bassist Melissa Auf Der Maur, clothing designer Molly R. Stern on bass, Pedro Yanowitz (Wallflowers, Natalie Merchant) on drums, Guy Stevens on guitar, and filmmaker Joey Garfield as DJ.
