(7/16/02, 10 a.m. ET) -- The Strokes were forced to cancel the first three dates of its tour with Weezer this week after lead singer Julian Casablancas suffered a "minor leg injury," according to a spokesperson for the band. Details surrounding the injury were not disclosed, except that the frontman was instructed to "keep off his leg for a week."
The Strokes' support slot was to begin Monday (July 15) in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Other dates affected include Wednesday (July 17) in Noblesville, Indiana and Thursday (July 18) in Columbus, Ohio. However, the group is still "hoping" to play the other two scheduled shows--July 29 in Atlanta and July 30 in Antioch, Tennessee.
The New York rockers have three other U.S. dates currently on their schedule: Detroit on August 9 and back home in Manhattan on August 14 and 15. More North American dates are in the works for October and November, according to the group's official website (thestrokes.com).
The Strokes are touring in support of their RCA Records debut album, Is This It.
