D.O.C. Says Ice Cube And MC Ren Revive N.W.A. Days On New Single

(1/22/02, 12 p.m. ET) -- The D.O.C. intends to make a comeback this year with the release of Deuce, his third album, due in April on his own Silverback Records. The album's first single, "Tha S--t," is an all-star track, featuring Ice Cube, MC Ren, Xzibit, and D.O.C. protege 6Two.
The D.O.C., who wrote songs for the late Eazy-E and N.W.A during the late '80s, told LAUNCH that Ice Cube and MC Ren's appearance on the "Tha S--t" was reminiscent of their old days: "'Cause both of them n--gas sound like N.W.A n-gas on that record. I'm talking about 1988 N.W.A n--gas where they ready to cuss out everybody. They don't give a f--k. And that's what I wanted."
After releasing his platinum classic debut, No One Can Do It Better, in 1989 on Ruthless Records, the D.O.C.'s larynx was crushed during a car accident, which resulted in the impairing of his voice.
