Hanson Is Home For The Holidays

12/19/2000 5:00 PM, Yahoo! Music
Craig Rosen

(12/19/00, 5 p.m. ET) - Sibling band Hanson will be spending the holidays at home in Tulsa, Oaklahoma. After a year of touring and promotion in support of their latest album This Time Around, Isaac, Taylor, and Zac are taking a well-deserved break.

Isaac explained to LAUNCH that the brothers spent most of the year 2000 on the road and are looking forward to spending the holidays at home. "I think we've been home maybe at most two-and-a-half months this year," he said. "To be home is almost like a vacation in itself, because you're sleeping in your own bed, and you don't particularly have to do anything because you've decided you're gonna take December off because you've just been so brain-fried from everything else that's been going on. We definitely have some holiday plans, but it's all pretty much home related."

In other Hanson news, the band recently released a "home-made" music video for the track "Save Me" to LAUNCH. The track is from from Hanson's latest album This Time Around, and the Internet-only release can be viewed exclusively at LAUNCH.com. Isaac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson co-directed the "Save Me" music video along with their good friend Ashley Greyson.

The video features live-performance footage of Hanson that underwent a technique known as rotoscoping, in which an artist traces an image from a film frame. "It's from various locations and it's mainly very, very tight shots of faces and hands," explains Greyson. "The one section in the middle, which is the bridge section, is shot in a room in this dingy theater in Erie, Pennsylvania. It's kind of a machine room or something that we found."

Greyson added, "It was really funny because Taylor was like, 'I wish we could find this really kind of industrial growth room with flashing lights, and then I opened the door that was next to us and it was the room that he had described."

Taylor tells LAUNCH that Hanson, who has its own personalized Internet Service Provider available at hanson.net, is embracing the Internet and new technology in a big way: "It's obvious that so many things are changing. I mean, the more and more that MTV doesn't play videos, the more likely that somebody else is going to find a way to have them seen."

Fans of Hanson can check out the "Save Me" music video at LAUNCH.com and let the band know what they think of it by sending comments about it to alexd@hanson.net.
