(8/20/99, 4 p.m. PDT) - Not only will Live be touring the country starting in December, they'll also be recruiting interested artists in a special benefit concert.

Frontman Ed Kowalczyk tells LAUNCH that Live would love to have an impact on musical kids in schools. "Live would like to sometime in the new year, 2000, do a concert for school music initiatives to get more funding for school music," the singer said, adding that he believes it's a travesty that more money is being allocated to school sports, while funding for music programs are being wiped out across the country.

"The four of us met in the Jazz band in junior high school," Kowalczyk noted. He doesn't think recruiting artists will be a problem: "I know Trent Reznor for one was a proud member of the Mercer High School band, so he's got it in his background. And I'm sure there's a lot more people out there with it in their background that are successful today. I just think that it could be like a Farm Aid type of thing, you know?"

Live's forthcoming album, The Distance To Here, is scheduled for an Oct. 5 release.
