Sloan Go It Alone

(6/19/98) - Following two apparently unsatisfactory stints with the DGC and the Enclave, Canadian popsters
Sloan will not be issuing their fourth album, Navy Blues, on an American label. Instead, the album will be released through the band's own label Murderecords, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia--the quartet's hometown. It will bedistributed through Never Records Group/ Proper Distribution in the States. Street date for the U.S. release of Navy Blues is July 28. The album was released on April 28 in Canada and has already gone gold there, with the first single, "Money City Maniacs," currently in the top 10. Sloan will perform as part of Canada's Edgefest package tour from June 29 to July 11, and will begin a stateside tour September 15. --Mac Randall, New York
