'T-shirts...Good!' To Offspring, Napster

(6/5/00, 6 p.m. ET) - The Offspring and Napster have worked out their differences regarding the sale of T-shirts and other products featuring the Napster name. In a joint statement released on Monday (June 5), the punk band and the now-infamous digital distribution company have "agreed to work together to offer a more complete line of Napster products." "The Offspring have been great supporters of Napster," said Napster founder Shawn Fanning. "We are looking forward to working with them." The comment from the Offspring's Dexter Holland was decidedly less formal, however. In a reference to Napster-Bad!, the short animation film parodying Metallica that has gained popularity on the web since its debut last month, Holland offered, "T-shirts. . .good." The agreement settles a spat that transpired between the two entities last week after the band offered T-shirts, baseball caps, and bumper stickers with the Napster logo for sale on their official website (offspring.com). Profits from the products will go to charity. -- Neal Weiss, Los Angeles
