Country Legend Hank Snow Passes On

(12/20/99, 1 p.m. ET) - Country music legend Hank Snow died yesterday (Dec. 20) at 12:30 a.m. at his home in Nashville. He was 85. Snow was born in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, Canada on May 9, 1914. He was often known as "the singing ranger" due to his largely flamboyant cowboy attire. In 1950, Snow's hit "I'm Movin' On'' remained at the No. 1 spot on the country music charts for almost a year. His other hits included "Rhumba Boogie," "I Don't Hurt Anymore," "I've Been Everywhere,"l "Let Me Go Lover," and "Golden Rocket." The singer released over 140 records in his career with estimated sales of 70 million copies. He began performing on the Grand Ole Opry in early 1950 and was a regular performer up through his 80s.
