(3/24/98) - Sarah McLachlan was the queen of this year's Juno Awards, winning four honors, including Album Of The Year (for Surfacing) and Single Of The Year (for "Building A Mystery").

The Junos (the Canadian Grammys) were presented Sunday night at the General Motors Place in Vancouver. McLachlan also received honors in the Female Vocalist and Songwriter Of The Year categories.

Our Lady Peace was named Group Of The Year and won the fan-voted Blockbuster Rock Album Of The Year (for Clumsy).

Others taking home multiple awards included Paul Brandt, who picked up Male Vocalist and Country Male Vocalist Of The Year honors, and Leahy, who topped the Best New Group and Instrumental categories.

In the night's big controversy, Rascalz, a Vik Records hip-hop group, refused their rap award, citing a lack of a hip-hop, reggae and R&B presence at the awards.

The moment happened during the pre-telecast portion of the show. "In view of the real lack of inclusion of black music in this ceremony, this [honor] feels like a token gesture toward honoring the real impact of urban music in Canada."
