Moby Ready For 'Camp Freddy' This Weekend
02/21/2003 5:00 PM, Yahoo! Music Darren Davis
(2/21/03, 5 p.m. ET) -- Moby will be a part of the all-star cover band Camp Freddy, which plays a Rock The Vote benefit on Saturday (February 22) at New York City's Roseland Ballroom.
"Last spring I played a couple of songs with 'Camp Freddy' in L.A.," wrote Moby on his online journal. "'Camp Freddy' is a very satisfying cover band, comprised of a bunch of people who, like myself, have always kind of fetishized the idea of playing cover songs....I will be playing guitar on one or two songs (hopefully one of those songs will be 'Whole Lotta Love', because it's my favorite song to play guitar on. Is that a dangling participle? 'to play guitar on'?)."
Moby continued, "Other guests will be: the Cult's Billy Morrison, Donovan Leitch, Scott Ford, Matt Sorum of Guns N' Roses, Dave Navarro of Jane's Addiction, Slash and Duff McKagen (Guns N' Roses), Brett Scallions (Fuel), Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Gavin Rossdale (Bush), and Russel 'sing-a-long' Steinberg (a.k.a. Johnny Fayva, who just happens to be my favorite new jersey lounge performer).
"When 'Camp Freddy' performed in L.A. last spring we had some very strange musical pairings," he continued. "My favorite being Robbie Williams singing 'Fat Bottomed Girls' with Slash on guitar. It was rock."
Tickets are available via Ticketmaster for $30. All of the proceeds will benefit Rock The Vote.
