(7/22/03, 6 p.m. ET) -- Teen rapper Bow Wow will perform a free concert at New York's Bryant Park on Wednesday (July 23) at noon. The performance will be to raise awareness and support for Computers For Youth (CFY), a non-profit organization which provides home computers to inner-city children. Bow Wow will be introduced by New York City School's Chancellor Joel Klein.
In a statement, the 16-year-old talked about why he got involved: " I don't take for granted all the blessings that I have, and as soon as I heard about Computers For Youth I really wanted to be involved. Anyone who knows me knows how much time I spend on computers. I'm an addict. Every young person deserves to have a computer in his or her home. It's cool that CFY will also make sure that they learn how to use them. I can't wait to be on that stage performing and at the same time supporting Computers For Youth."
In related news, Bow Wow will release his third album, Unleashed, on August 19. The first single from the set, "Let's Get Down," is presently Number 22 on the urban Radio & Records National Airplay chart. Bow Wow also recently launched his clothing line, Shago, which is available at major retailers.
