Hootie & The Blowfish Add Assortment Of Dates

(2/7/01, 10 a.m. ET) -- While Darius Rucker continues to work on his first solo album, he is still finding time to join his Hootie & The Blowfish bandmates on the road to play a few gigs and pay a few bills. The group plays a scattered assortment of dates over the next four months, including an appearance at the Bob Marley Caribbean Festival in Miami on February 17 and two-night stands at casinos in Lake Tahoe, Nevada and Mashantucket, Connecticut in March and May, respectively.
As is the case with any Hootie gig, the shows will likely feature a variety of cover songs, including some from the band's recent covers album, Scattered, Smothered & Covered. To Rucker, performing someone else's song is often as cool as playing one of his band's own compositions.
He tells LAUNCH, "A lot of people go out and they play, you know, an hour and 15, and, you know, that's it for them. But we usually play, like, you know, like between two and three hours for our shows so...You know, when you go out and you're having fun and you're in the middle of a rock show and you play, you know, 'I'm Over You' or something like that and it's still rocking, for us it's just a song. You know, it's a song that we loved and a song that we all sat around and learned to play together. So, it's just like, playing a song. A song's a song no matter who wrote it, it's still a song."
