(8/3/00, 12 p.m. ET) - Los Angeles punk-pop group Eve 6 has debuted at Number 34 on this week's Billboard album sales chart with its second album, Horrorscope. The album was the highest debut of the week, selling nearly 40,000 copies, according to sources. Eve 6 bassist/vocalist Max Collins tells LAUNCH that he hopes the new album helps redefine the image of the band, which was best known for its just-barely-out-of-high-school status when it released its self-titled debut in 1998. "I don't think people have gotten us right yet," says Collins. "But I think this record is gonna establish our true identity more. I think we were kinda portrayed as more angst-y--the whole teen thing was kind of pushed too much on the last record, and we're not that. We're a fun rock band, more lighthearted than that." Eve 6 travels to Canada this week to appear with Smashing Pumpkins, A Perfect Circle, Deftones, Foo Fighters, and others on that country's Summersault 2000 tour. The eight-gig festival begins Friday in Vancouver, B.C. -- Neal Weiss, Los Angeles
